Restaurants & Cafes to Display Calories in Menu

Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has instructed all the Food facilities (Restaurants & Cafes) to list calories and ingredients along with each menu item including Food & Beverages in restaurants in Saudi Arabia.

Starting January 2019 all the restaurants in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia must list Calories in their menus.

Restaurants & Cafes to Display Calories in Menu

The SFDA requires content information on menus to include all information on calories, protein, vitamins, minerals, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, total carbohydrates, total sugar and added sugar.

This will include all restaurants, cafes, recreation facilities, colleges, ice cream shops, fresh fruit juice shops, bakeries, patisseries, supermarkets, universities and government agencies.

This step is towards raising awareness of calories and its nutritional value of each menu item consumed and help people living in Saudi Arabia to stay healthy.
