Saudi Arabia Cabinet Ministers have approved an annual Fees for issuance of Istimara (Vehicle registration) renewal based on the Fuel efficiency.
So, if a vehicle who has better fuel efficiency will have to pay less Istimara for Renewal. This decision was taken for both Light & heavy vehicles.
Light vehicles made in 2016 & Later
Light vehicles made in 2015 & earlier including Heavy Vehicles
Renewal Fees for Istimara is 300 Saudi Riyals for 3 years, but this will be changed as per fuel efficiency of the vehicle
The annual Fees will be applied on two phases:
Phase-1:
Starting 2022, will include new light vehicles manufactures in the year 2023, provided the application is linked to completing the modernization of electronic systems of concerned authorities for Istimara issuance & renewal
Phase-2
Starting 2023, this will include all the vehicles, provided the application is linked with the SEEC (Saudi Energy Efficiency Center) ensuring readiness of infra & co-ordination with relevant authorities
The implementation of Fees for issuance & renewal of Istimara will be taken care by Saudi Traffic
The decision includes enabling the vehicle owner to view the value of the financial amount for energy efficiency imposed on his vehicle, and to approve the vehicle owner’s objection to the amount.
The government will bear all fees and fines of Saudi vehicle owners, if any, related to non-compliance with the renewal of the vehicle’s driving license that is more than 15 years old, in the event of its Saudi owner desires to drop it from the traffic records within one year of the issuance of the decision.
The first is that the vehicle owner shall object to the technical data regarding fuel economy or engine capacity on which the financial compensation is based within a maximum period of 60 days from the date of adding the amount to the vehicle’s account in the electronic platform for paying vehicle fees, and this is to be followed by reviewing the objections by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) on technical grounds apart from inspecting the vehicle if it is required.
