Win 100,000 Riyals if you are living in Saudi Arabia by just naming a rock in Al Ula Rock Naming contest ‘Name A Rock’.

The Royal Commission of Al-Ula (which is a part of north western Saudi Arabia) has launched a competition called ‘Name A Rock’ contest in which the participants should provide names to the rock formations in the governorate.

Registrations: (End in 2 months)

Participants should take a photo of a unique rock formation in Al-Ula and suggest a name for it. In addition, participants should provide the reason behind the naming and locate the rock on the map.

The top 3 winners will be granted with the following monetary awards:

1st Place: 100,000 Saudi Riyals

2nd Place: 75,000 Saudi Riyals

3rd Place: 50,000 Saudi Riyals

Nominations: (18th Nov – 24th Nov)

Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria: 1- Uniqueness of the rock formation 2- Uniqueness of the reason behind the naming of the rock formation. 3- Relevance of the name to the rock formation or to a story related to the history of Al-Ula civilization.

Voting (25th Nov – 1st Dec)

In the voting stage, top 10 submissions are presented to the audience for online voting to determine the winners. Public voting counts towards 50% of the winners’ selection.

Judging (2nd – 8th Dec)

At this stage, the judging committee will evaluate the top 10 submissions in order to select 3 winners. The Judges Committee’s voting counts towards 50% of the winners’ selection.

Winner Announcement (14th Dec)

The winners of Name a Rock competition will be announced.
