Massage Services Banned in Saudi Arabia

SCTH (Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage) announced that massage services provided in Hotels, furnished apartments and any toursit accommodation places have been banned.

Only hotels with 4-star ratingsor higher can provide massages services in their hotels in Saudi Arabia now. To provide massage services these venues should obtain statutory licenses from relevant government agencies.

Any 4 star and 5 Star hotels can provide massage service in their SPAs according to specific requirements and clear criteria in the fields of safety and discipline

Omar bin Abdul Aziz Al-Mubarak, the director-general of the general department of licensing at the SCTH, said the decision was based on tourism regulations, which stress the importance of organizing tourist facilities and services to ensure fair competition.

Any violations, which can be reported through the Tourism Communication Center, will be subject to the penalties stipulated in tourism regulations, he said.

All Massage service Centers have been notified to stop in-house services except high-end avenues.
