After Prince Mohammed Bin Salman said, one more Saudi cleric supported him who is former head of the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Mecca, said MBS statement “is consistent with the teachings of Islam.”

As per the Saudi cleric he explained that the color & the design of the abaya is not based on the teachings of Islam, but the main purpose is decency and concealment, “nothing is wrong with the color of the garment or its type.”

He also noted that the black abaya dates back to the end of the Ottoman era, but in some hadiths and narrations it was mentioned that “the wives of the Prophet used to wear colors such as pale yellow and rose.”
