Saudi Arabia officially bans child marriages under 18, with one loophole in cases where a spouse-to-be is below 18, specialised courts take part to assess the situation.

After years of discussions, Saudi Arabia finally announced this week that it has banned child marriages, by making the minimum age (18) for weddings.

Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Sheikh Dr.Walid Al-Samaani addressed in all the courts with an official statement in which he stressed the new law.

There’s one loophole(set of rules), though. If Any teenager is under 18 will be referred to specialised courts to know where they can get married or not. These courts examine each case of child marriage to confirm that the future spouse where he/she is under 18 will not be harmed after their wedding. They will be treated equally among each and everyone.

According to the majority of people this Law took place. “There were no limitations in Saudi Arabia for marriage before, this new decision follows an earlier law that was reveled in the month of January this year and Which bans the marriage of children under 15 years old. The main motto is to protect young boys and girls”
