Saudi Arabia which was known as a fully Islamic country is now moving toward westernizing all its rules and regulations from Women Drivers, Movie Theaters in the country and Live Shows which were earlier prohibited have now become a legal in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to it Saudi women no longer require a Meh-ram (Male guardian) permission to travel anywhere or get a passport. This announcement came from Royal Decree Kin Salman bin AbdulAziz
No Restrictions on Women Travelling Now in Saudi
As per the decree there will no difference between Men & Women who wants to travel and will be considered as gender neutral and does not have any restrictions for women in specific
Only Minors still required guardian’s approval to obtain a passport or to travel. This is also in accordance with Vision 2030 where Men and Women are considered equally for Jobs and other services.
This will make Women in Saudi Arabia to live their lives free from hassles which they were facing earlier.
Princess Reema bint Bandar said the amendments are “designed to elevate the status of Saudi women within our society, including granting them the right to apply for passports and travel independently.”
This will also help women who already have a driving license and would like to travel anywhere without anyone approval.
Though this is considered as a good step for Women’s Freedom. Will there be any concerns to Women’s Safety while travelling alone is a question that everyone is asking.
