Climate in Saudi Arabia is very hot in summer generally due to desert and the rain is very scarce to happen. The Ministry of Labor & Social Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have banned worker to work in direct sun for 3 months starting 15th June 2018 to 15th September. It means mid-day break in noon time between 12 PM to 3 PM for 3 months.

Though its the responsibility of of the companies and employers that no worker shold work between the aforemention timnings (12 PM – 3 PM).

This is not the first time the Ministry has passed this order, but every year in summer from 15th June to 15th September when there is high temperature in the Kingdom this resolution is issued.

The step also reflects the ministry’s commitment to protecting workers from any potential risks in accordance with safety and occupational health considerations.

Workers were cautioned against working under the scorching heat and warned not to expose themselves to possible sunstrokes.

This resolution is applicable only where these is high temperature and not applicable in few reas where the temperatures are low. This rule even does not apply to workers in the oil and gas sector or on emergency duty. However, their employers have to ensure that they are well protected from the high risks of exposure to the scorching sun.
