Saudi Govt has decided to launch a new identity card for the expatriates living the kingdom and it will be known as Resident Identity card or Muqeem Card which will replace Iqama from day one of the Islamic new year 1437 (October 14, 2015). So, finally Iqama will be deprecated.

Muqeem Card

Muqeem Resident card is now available in Riyadh by Crown Prince Md. Bin Naif, Deputy Premier and MOI (Ministry of Interior). Passport department has released the news that new resident identity cards to be sent by saudi post for each individuals and the the service will be online so, no need to visit at any office.

The validity of Muqeem is five years or more and it’s renewable annually by employer through Muqeem online service or abshir service.This card are also readable at checkpoints, banks and other institution places as the special machine is installed to record the information.

Muqeem card contains following details:

Photo, Name, date of birth, occupation, number, Nationality, work eligibility, religion, employer name and work permit number.
